ETS TOEFL
The TOEFL iBT® test measures the ability a person can use and understand English at the university level. More than 27 million people worldwide have taken the TOEFL® test to demonstrate their English-language proficiency.
The average English skill level ranges between intermediate and advanced. It evaluates how well test takers combine their listening, reading, speaking and writing skills to perform academic tasks.
The TOEFL iBT® test is used for:

There is no passing or failing TOEFL score; individual institutions and agencies set their own score requirements.

Test takers are asked to perform tasks that combine more than one skill, such as:
- Read, listen and then speak in response to a question
- Listen and then speak in response to a question
- Read, listen and then write in response to a question
