Livelli
The common European framework of reference for languages differentiates users in three major groups; Basic (A), Independent (B) and Proficient (C).Each group is composed of two subgroups, for a total of six levels: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2. A1 represents the lowest level of competence, while C2 is the highest. A description of the needed abilities for each level is provided below.
A – Basic User
A1 – Livello base Beginner
They can comprehend very basic phrases and use common everyday expressions.
- They can interact in a simple way, as long as the other person speaks slowly and clearly.
- They can introduce themselves and others. They can ask and answer questions about personal details: such as where he/she lives, people they know and things they have.
A2 – Elementary Level
They can understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment).
- They can communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters.
- They can describe in simple terms aspects of their background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need.
B – Independent User
B1 – Intermediate
They can understand the main points on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc.
- They can deal with most situations that likely arise while travelling in an area where the language is spoken.
- They can produce simple text on topics that are familiar or of personal interest.
- They can describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes and ambitions. They can also briefly give reasons and explanations for their opinions and plans.
B2 – Upper Intermediate
- They can understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in their field of expertise.
- They can interact with a degree of fluency that makes regular interaction with native speakers possible without strain for either party.
- They can produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects, and also explain heir viewpoint on a typical issue giving their advantages and disadvantages on various options.
C – Proficient User
C1 – Advanced
- They can understand a wide range of complex text, and recognize implicit meaning.
- They can express ideas fluently and spontaneously without much need for explanations.
- They can distinguish and interchange the language effectively for social, academic and professional purposes.
- They can produce clear, well-structured and detailed text on complex subjects.
C2 – Mastery or Full Proficiency
- They can understand virtually everything heard or read with ease
- They can summarize information from both spoken and ritten sources, by reconstructing the arguments and accounts into a coherent presentation.
- They can express themselves spontaneously with extreme precise and fluency! All of this while differentiating the finer shades of meaning, even from the most complex situations.
